PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kalazzar Scar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Goon City (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Goon City told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Goon City!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Tiny Johnson and Robert Twigg.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scar avoids a punch combination nicely.
Scar tries to counter with a takedown but City is quick to defend against it.
A big left from City misses.
City catches Scar with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
City scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Nice shot by City.
Nice sprawl there from City as Scar shoots in.
Scar looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
City missing with a left hand there. Scar was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
City connects with a good right hand that stumbles Scar. Scar circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

City tries to sprawl but Scar drives through with a takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
City avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Scar.
Scar throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
City controlling the position for now.
City blocking the ground and pound attempt from Scar.

Scar is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, City has managed to free his arm - good work.

Scar is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Scar is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so City is just riding it out for now. Scar eventually gives up the hold.
Scar trying to advance position but City counters by regaining guard.
City wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
City keeping full guard, as Scar tries to pass.
Scar has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Scar postures up in City's guard and throws a big left but City blocks it.
Scar trying to control the position from guard on top but City is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
City preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Scar drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but City manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Scar has City in his guard.

Scar working for submissions but it's allowed City to get to half guard.
City working Scar over with strikes.

Scar is staying active underneath City, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
City working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
City looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

City moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Scar.
City working the head and body with strikes.
Scar is trying to control City's posture but City avoids it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Scar is trying to get back to his feet.
Scar tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but City wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Scar wants to control but City postures up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Scar is trying to get back to half guard.
City cracks Scar with a big right hand but Scar just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
City is chipping away with strikes.
Scar is trying to control City's posture but City avoids it.
Scar tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but City wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
City lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Scar is letting City control him for a moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Goon City dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

A left lands for City.
Scar tries to close the distance and clinch but City swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
City moves into range and connects with a jab.
City lands with a cross.
City darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Scar is rocked!
City connects with a superb combination that knocks Scar out cold! The referee charges across the mat and tackles City before he can land any more shots to the unconscious Scar!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:28 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Goon City!
An out of breath Goon City thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
