Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Drew Petrie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Lincoln (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Lincoln's choice of entrance music: "Real American" by Rick Derringer. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Drew Petrie!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, George Lincoln!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Jeff Smith and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lincoln tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Petrie swivels and escapes.
A right-left combo lands from Petrie.
Lincoln is looking to clinch but Petrie is avoiding it.
An attempted straight right counter from Petrie misses the target.
Petrie feints a jab promting Lincoln to slip. Petrie then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Lincoln slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Lincoln moves into the clinch.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Lincoln is struggling to control the position.

Petrie is trying to push Lincoln away but Lincoln has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Petrie definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Petrie wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Lincoln has him pressed against the cage.

Petrie wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Petrie swings wildly with an uppercut but Lincoln uses good head movement to avoid it.
Lincoln scores with a shot to the side of Petrie's head.
Petrie is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Lincoln is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Lincoln breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Petrie throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Petrie connects with a nice looking jab.

Petrie rushes Lincoln and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Lincoln fails in his attempt to clinch.
Lincoln tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Petrie paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Lincoln takes the fight into the clinch.

Lincoln misses with a takedown attempt
and Petrie counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Lincoln tries to close the distance and clinch but Petrie swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Drew Petrie is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

enabling Petrie to counter with a crisp jab.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Lincoln.
Drew Petrie has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of George Lincoln.

Lincoln gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Petrie is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Lincoln keeps control of Petrie as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Lincoln content to slow the pace in the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Drew Petrie dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Petrie shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Lincoln eats them both and turns towards Petrie to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Petrie throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Lincoln.
Petrie is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Lincoln can do to turn this around?
Lincoln shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Petrie as he avoids it easily.

Lincoln gets in close and instigates a clinch.
George Lincoln seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.
Petrie scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Lincoln controlling the action here for a moment.

Lincoln breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Petrie cracks Lincoln with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Petrie has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Lincoln to stand back up!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Petrie cracks Lincoln on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Lincoln falls backwards against the cage. Petrie follows up with more strikes that drop Lincoln to his knees. Petrie keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Lincoln! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Drew Petrie!
Drew Petrie is the new heavyweight champion!
Drew Petrie really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Sportsmanship Ltd. logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
