PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Antonio Jose De Sucre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivar Lodbrok (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). De Sucre comes into the arena with Iced Earth - Plagues of Babylon blaring out of the sound system. Lodbrok has chosen Killing in the name of... as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Nard Betker and Paulsen Ambrosius.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Sucre ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Lodbrok moves away.
Lodbrok flicks out a counter leg kick but De Sucre steps away.
Lodbrok throws a jab but it's blocked by De Sucre.
De Sucre was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Lodbrok takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Lodbrok slips under a jab from De Sucre.
Lodbrok attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Lodbrok bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Lodbrok displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as De Sucre throws out the jab.
De Sucre lands with a kick to the temple. Lodbrok shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
De Sucre gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Lodbrok.

A little jabbing left from Lodbrok on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

and Lodbrok counters with a head kick. That will keep De Sucre thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Lodbrok connects with a leg kick. De Sucre looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
De Sucre stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Lodbrok.

De Sucre stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

De Sucre tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Lodbrok's elbow.

De Sucre jumps into guard, dragging Lodbrok to the mat.

De Sucre has his foot on Lodbrok's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lodbrok works his way back into a safe position though.

De Sucre has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Lodbrok is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for De Sucre.

Lodbrok content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Let's hope that Lodbrok has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
De Sucre is trying to get back to half guard.

Lodbrok takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
De Sucre tries to hold on but Lodbrok postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

De Sucre throws a lazy right hand but Lodbrok sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Antonio Jose De Sucre seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lodbrok tries to clinch but De Sucre is having none of it.

De Sucre takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

De Sucre chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Lodbrok can pounce on him.
Lodbrok fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
De Sucre's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Lodbrok connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! De Sucre scrambles back to his feet.
Lodbrok dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on De Sucre. That did some damage!

De Sucre chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Lodbrok can pounce on him.

De Sucre's legs have taken a beating and he's really slowing down as a result.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
De Sucre misses the shot to the body.
Lodbrok jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
The fighters circle momentarily. De Sucre darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
De Sucre throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A nice leg kick lands there from Lodbrok.
De Sucre is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Lodbrok ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Lodbrok has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Jab, jab by Lodbrok - just one landing.
De Sucre throws a looping overhand right but Lodbrok ducks down to avoid it.

De Sucre throws a sloppy head kick and Lodbrok moves out of range easily.
Oh De Sucre is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

and Lodbrok counters with a beautiful right hand that knocks De Sucre out cold! What a finish! Lodbrok is going crazy, running around the mat, summersaulting off the corner posts and screaming into the cameras. Something tells me he's pretty happy!

After the fight, Ivar Lodbrok was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
