PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dran Jast (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Itula Maafala (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dran Jast looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Itula Maafala!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Russell Pearce and Lou da Vinci.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Maafala takes the fight into the clinch.
Maafala misses with a body punch.

Jast successfully pulls guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Maafala tries to stand but Jast is controlling from the bottom.
Maafala throwing strikes but missing.
Maafala stands up over Jast, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Maafala postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Maafala gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Maafala moves into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Maafala scores with a shot to the side of Jast's head.

It looks like Dran Jast has been cut.
Jast is breathing heavily.
Jast changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Maafala fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Maafala scores with a hook.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jast shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Maafala but Maafala pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Maafala moves into the clinch successfully.

Jast has clasped his hands together around Maafala's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Maafala is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Jast is controlling him well.
Maafala holds on to Jast's head and controls the position momentarily.
Maafala is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Jast off and has taken his back!
Jast grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.
Maafala lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.

Dran Jast's cut is getting worse.
Maafala scores with punches to the body.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Maafala throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Jast!

Dran Jast's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Dran Jast's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
