PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gautama Buddha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wee Dee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gautama Buddha!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wee Dee!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Gwen Towbar and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Buddha will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Buddha tries to score a power double leg takedown but Dee sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Buddha somewhat.
Dee shoots in but Buddha avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Buddha shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Dee napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Buddha with the ground and pound but Dee regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Dee taking some punishment here, with Buddha in his half guard.
Buddha really is a fat lump.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dee blocking the ground and pound attempt from Buddha.
Buddha keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Buddha lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Buddha lands a nice short elbow.
Buddha looks to land a strike but Dee avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Dee looking for a guillotine here but Buddha defends easily.
Buddha has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Dee is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Buddha with a flurry of punches that miss.
Buddha working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Dee looking to hit a scissor sweep but Buddha is one step ahead there.
Buddha scoring with punches to the head and body.
Buddha landing some decent shots from guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Buddha postures up.

Buddha trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Buddha wants to control from the top but Dee keeps moving.

Dee has his foot on Buddha's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Buddha works his way back into a safe position though.

Dee trying to control the position.

Dee looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Buddha's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Dee working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Buddha doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Buddha manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Buddha trying to control the position from guard on top but Dee is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Buddha throws an elbow that misses. Dee uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Buddha's guard. Nice move by Dee!

Buddha is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Buddha tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Dee trying to control but Buddha is working from the bottom.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Dee looking to pass the guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gautama Buddha dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!



Buddha drives through with a takedown into Dee's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Buddha throws an elbow that misses. Dee uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Buddha's guard. Nice move by Dee!

Dee stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Buddha swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Buddha wants to stand but Dee is controlling the position.
Buddha keeping moving, preventing Dee from controlling successfully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dee sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Buddha's guard.

Dee is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Buddha trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Gautama Buddha overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Dee is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Buddha can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Buddha is squirming around, avoiding Dee's attempts to control the action.
Buddha can't escape the position.

Dee is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Buddha to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Buddha shrugs it off.

Dee can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Buddha is looking to escape.
Buddha sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Dee is trying to control the action in half guard but Buddha is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Buddha is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Dee moves nicely into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Buddha can't do much from the bottom here.
Buddha is looking to reverse the position.
Buddha is working hard here to advance position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Dee wants to lay and pray for a moment but Buddha keeps working.
Buddha knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dee on the ground.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Buddha shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Buddha showed some decent athleticism there.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Buddha lands a nice short elbow.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Buddha looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dee moves into full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Wee Dee will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Buddha shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Buddha slips a nice elbow through Dee's hands, connecting with Dee's forehead.
Dee trying to control but Buddha postures up.
Buddha is nestled in close to Dee, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Buddha working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Buddha thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Buddha not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Buddha is keen to just control but Dee is a slippery customer.
Buddha tries to pass to full mount but Dee defends it.

Buddha wants to advance to full mount but Dee doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Buddha wants to control from the top but Dee keeps moving.
Buddha throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Dee works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Buddha in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Buddha missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Buddha stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dee swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Buddha has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Dee to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Buddha is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Dee pulls down on the head and he's put Buddha to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Wee Dee!
