Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Toshi Matoshin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bjorn Helgi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matoshin comes to the cage accompanied by Mortal Kombat theme. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Toshi Matoshin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 33 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bjorn Helgi!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Andrew Berry and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matoshin on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Helgi moves in looking to clinch but Matoshin pushes him off.
Matoshin lands a nice shot that snaps Helgi's head back.


It looks like Bjorn Helgi has been cut.
Matoshin throws a low kick but Helgi avoids it.
Matoshin throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
A thudding body kick lands there by Matoshin!

Helgi lands a big head kick that sends Matoshin tumbling to the mat! Helgi takes a step backwards and waves Matoshin back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Matoshin is rocked!


It looks like Toshi Matoshin has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Helgi misses with a body shot.
Oh Matoshin is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Matoshin misses the jab.
Helgi wants to counter with a clinch but Matoshin pushes him away.
Helgi throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Matoshin seems to have got his legs back now.
Helgi uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Matoshin.

Matoshin tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Helgi just stands there and leans against the cage.
Matoshin is trying to push Helgi away but Helgi has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Helgi lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Matoshin wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Matoshin tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Helgi's elbow.
Matoshin blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Helgi misses with a short punch on the inside.

Matoshin jumps into guard, dragging Helgi to the mat.
Matoshin tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Helgi throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Matoshin works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Matoshin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Helgi doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Helgi manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Matoshin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Helgi tries to free his leg and advance position but Matoshin is retaining full guard.
Helgi has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Matoshin is proving hard to escape from.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Helgi thumps Matoshin with a low kick.
Helgi throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Matoshin stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Matoshin tries to clinch but Helgi moves out of range.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Helgi fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Matoshin manages to avoid it.

Matoshin will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Helgi has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Matoshin throws a shot from downtown. Helgi moves away and avoids it.

Matoshin shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Helgi is trying to defend but Matoshin finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Helgi has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Matoshin is on him like a limpet, forcing Helgi back against the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Matoshin stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Matoshin fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Helgi on the side of the head.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Helgi.

Some bone on bone action there as Helgi checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Matoshin cracks Helgi with a hook to the temple - Helgi is on wobbly legs here! Matoshin swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Helgi falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Matoshin wins by TKO!

During a confident post fight interview, Toshi Matoshin thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
