The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Recoba changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Pointon looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pointon is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Pointon takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Recoba trying to control the position but Pointon is working away.
Recoba might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Pointon haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Recoba is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Pointon is looking for a sweep.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pointon is trying to control Recoba's posture but Recoba avoids it.
Pointon takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Recoba wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pointon keeps working.
Pointon is trying to improve his position.
Pointon manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Recoba is looking for a sweep. Pointon is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Pointon is working for a submission of some sort.

Recoba is not content to let Pointon control the position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Pointon is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Recoba still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Recoba has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
Pointon is breathing heavily.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Recoba is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Pointon has escaped the position, nice work there.
Recoba tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Recoba lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Pointon down.
Pointon tries to buck Recoba off but Recoba is having none of it.
Recoba connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Pointon some visible discomfort.
Pointon looks to move to half guard but instead Recoba has passed into mount! Damn!
Pointon is trying desperately to improve position.
Recoba lands a heavy elbow.

Recoba is in the full mount, landing strikes.
The referee warns Pointon that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Pointon is in a horrible position here. Recoba smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Recoba landing punches.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A big strike lands for Recoba! That's really hurt Pointon and he's turned his back - Recoba keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Recoba jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
