Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnny Owens!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Josh Barnett!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Cecil Peabody and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Owens has managed to clinch.
Owens gets underhooks to prevent Barnett's takedown attempt.
Barnett's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
It looks like Josh Barnett has been cut.
A nice left hand lands by Owens.
Owens lands a right hand that snaps the head of Barnett backwards.
Barnett has Owens pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Owens manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Barnett changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Owens fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Johnny Owens has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Josh Barnett.

I was talking to Owens's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Owens pushes Barnett back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Owens throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Barnetts head.

Barnett's coach down at WildBoar's Pig Pen (Strength and Conditioning) $40 was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Barnett's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Owens lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Still in the clinch, Owens scores with a nice short uppercut.

Owens presses Barnett against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Barnett seems to have recovered his senses.
Owens lands an uppercut in the clinch that drops Barnett to his knees! Owens keeps firing more shots against his stricken opponent and the referee jumps in to save him!
