Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ben Gontier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bubba Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Walker is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by What You Know. Ben Gontier has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ben Gontier!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bubba Walker!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Ian Loll and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gontier fails in his attempt to clinch.

Gontier slaps away a takedown attempt from Walker, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Gontier gets a double leg takedown into Walker's guard.
Gontier not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gontier drops Walker with a right and a left! Gontier comes rushing in but Walker regains his composure and manages to keep Gontier in guard.


It looks like Bubba Walker has been cut.

Gontier closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Gontier perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Gontier has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

We've been informed that Walker has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Gontier is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Walker has gone for a leg lock! Gontier slips out almost immediately though and dives into Walker's guard.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Gontier closes the distance and clinches up with Walker, looking for a takedown. Gontier pushes Walker against the cage but Walker circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Walker has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Gontier uses from the top position.
Walker can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Gontier controls the pace.
Ben Gontier overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Gontier has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Walker is proving hard to escape from.
Walker is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Gontier is controlling him.

Gontier seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Walker has his feet on Gontier's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Gontier shoots in looking for a takedown. Walker tries to sprawl out of it but Gontier keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Walker manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Gontier is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Despite the aggression on Walker's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ben Gontier.
Well Gontier has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
