The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Longo shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Tryggvason pinned against the cage. Tryggvason gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Tryggvason fails in his attempt to clinch.
Tryggvason throws a sloppy head kick and Longo moves out of range easily.
Longo goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tryggvason leaves Longo with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Tryggvason thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Longo wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Tryggvason closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Tryggvason darts in looking for a takedown but Longo gets double underhooks and turns Tryggvason into the cage.
Tryggvason stuffs the takedown attempt from Longo. Longo gets slowly back to his feet.
Longo lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Longo.
We've been told by Longo's head coaches at Werewolf's cave that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Tryggvason is breathing heavily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Longo shoots in looking for a takedown. Tryggvason tries to sprawl out of it but Longo keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Tryggvason manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Longo lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Tryggvason circles away quickly and effectively.
Tryggvason takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.

Longo shoots for a double leg takedown but Tryggvason sprawls well. He's pushed Longo's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Tryggvason keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Longo fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Tryggvason avoids it really well and circles away.
We've been informed that Tryggvason has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Tryggvason shoots for a takedown but Longo saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Leroy Longo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Tryggvason shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Longo napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Tryggvason tries to advance to mount but Longo denies him.
Longo tries to bench press Tryggvason off him but Tryggvason keeps the position.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Longo bucks up and tries to throw Tryggvason off but instead Tryggvason has got his back!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Tryggvason is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Longo has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Tryggvason has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Longo taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Tryggvason doesn't care though - he's delighted!
