Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Luiz Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luke Carpal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Luiz Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Luke Carpal!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Dirk Anderson and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carpal throws a lazy right hand but Diaz sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Carpal fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Diaz looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Carpal throws a sloppy head kick

and Diaz counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Diaz looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Diaz passes Carpal's left leg - he's now in half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Diaz is working for a submission of some sort.
Diaz keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Carpal really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Diaz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Diaz is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Carpal defends it well.
Carpal is staying active underneath Diaz, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Diaz thows a huge punch but Carpal dodges it nicely.
Diaz wants to take a breather but Carpal is having none of it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Diaz is looking for a kimura but Carpal is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Diaz to get the leverage.
Diaz thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Diaz is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Diaz is trying to control the action in half guard but Carpal is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Diaz works his way into full mount!
Diaz lands a big elbow.

Diaz looking for a guillotine from mount but Carpal is having none of it.

Diaz working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Carpal looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Diaz! Submission of the night perhaps?
