Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Daniel Marston!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jack Sparrow!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Peter Branson and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marston dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Sparrow.
Marston throws a body shot but no joy.
Sparrow displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Marston.
Sparrow tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Marston swivels and escapes.
Marston tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Sparrow counters with a takedown into side control.
Sparrow working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Marston manages to get back to half guard.

Marston is trying to control but can't.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sparrow prevents Marston from improving his position.
Sparrow tries to pass to full mount but Marston defends it.
Sparrow content to control rather than advance.
Sparrow stalling away here and it's allowed Marston to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Marston seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Marston keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Daniel Marston has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Sparrow.

Sparrow looking for a sweep. Not yet Sparrow, not yet.
Marston engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Marston stands and throws Sparrow's legs to the side, diving into side control.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Marston is looking to take a break and control but Sparrow is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Sparrow is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Marston lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Sparrow down.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sparrow pushes Marston away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Marston gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
You can see the frustration on Sparrow's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Marston's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Marston shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Sparrow defends it nicely.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Sparrow is defended easily by Marston.
Marston throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sparrow's waist but Sparrow gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Marston off to one side.

Marston might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Sparrow not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Sparrow wants to free his trapped foot but Marston is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Sparrow throws a strike but Marston avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sparrow stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Marston swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Marston wants to control but Sparrow postures up.

Marston parries the strikes from Sparrow easily there. Sparrow is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Marston to escape.

Marston is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Sparrow throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.

Marston just trying to survive but Sparrow is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

Sparrow has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Can Marston hold on?! Sparrow is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.
Sparrow lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.

Marston manages to escape to a better position under a series of strikes. Sparrow is now in side control.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Sparrow showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Marston looks to land a right hand but Sparrow moved out of range.
Marston throws a body shot but no joy.
Marston fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Sparrow manages to avoid it.
Marston tries to clinch there but Sparrow circles away.
Sparrow shoots for a double leg takedown but Marston sprawls well. He's pushed Sparrow's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Marston attempts a counter takedown but Sparrow avoids it well and moves away.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Sparrow is defended easily by Marston.

Jack Sparrow is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

And Sparrow tries to counter it with a takedown but Marston pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Marston lands an elbow inside that Sparrow shrugs off.

Sparrow is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Marston is aware though and is defending well.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Sparrow wants to sweep here but Marston controlling him for the moment.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Sparrow bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Marston is letting Sparrow control him for a moment.

Marston is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Sparrow uses his free foot to push down on Marston's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Marston.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Jack Sparrow comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Sparrow has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
