The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
San avoids the body shot from Newton.
San fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Newton throws a hook but San avoids it easily.
Rodolfo Newton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
San connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Newton just misses with a punch to the body.
San thinks about countering with a head kick.
Newton throws a poor cross that misses
and San finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Newton throws a head kick but San moves out of range.
Newton dives in and grabs San's left leg, looking for a takedown. San pushes down on Newton's head and hops out.
Newton avoids the head kick by San.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
San lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
San buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
A low kick from San is predictable there

and Newton counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Newton.

San has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Newton has passed into side control.

Newton takes a little break here. San wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Newton has hold of San's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! San tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Newton cranks the arm and San screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from San, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
