Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Scot Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phillip Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Scot Sanchez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Phillip Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Gwen Towbar and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Johnson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Johnson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Johnson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Sanchez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Sanchez is looking for a sweep.
Sanchez is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Sanchez wants to control but Johnson postures up.
Johnson is looking to take a break and control but Sanchez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Johnson has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Johnson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Sanchez is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Johnson's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Johnson is just content to waste time from the top position. Sanchez takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Sanchez might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Johnson wants to control from the top but Sanchez keeps moving.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Sanchez pushes Johnson off and scrambles back to his feet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Johnson tries to free his leg and advance position but Sanchez is retaining full guard.

Sanchez pushes Johnson off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Phillip Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Johnson throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Sanchez tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Johnson is in Sanchez's guard.
Sanchez is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Johnson is controlling him.
Johnson wants to pass the guard but Sanchez is keeping the position.
Sanchez is pulling down on Johnson's head. It's preventing any offense from Johnson, at least for the moment.

Johnson wants to stand but Sanchez has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Johnson looking to sit in guard and control but Sanchez gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Johnson wants to stand but Sanchez is controlling the position.
Sanchez is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Sanchez is looking to clinch but Johnson is avoiding it.
Scot Sanchez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Johnson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Sanchez's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sanchez looks like he's trying to stand up.
Johnson thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Sanchez is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Johnson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Johnson's back!
Sanchez is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Sanchez gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Sanchez gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Sanchez apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Sanchez is trying to break the clinch but Johnson is controlling him.
Johnson tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Sanchez tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Johnson is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Johnson is looking to stand up but Sanchez isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Johnson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Sanchez sprawls well initially but Johnson persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Johnson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sanchez keeps working.
Sanchez wants to control but Johnson is keeping busy.

Johnson is looking to take a break and control but Sanchez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Johnson is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Sanchez is trying to stand.
Johnson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Sanchez's head.
Johnson is trying to control the action in half guard but Sanchez is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Johnson is breathing heavily.

Johnson is working for a kimura but Sanchez is defending it quite comfortably.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Johnson closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Sanchez quickly recovers to half guard.

Sanchez preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Johnson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Sanchez manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Johnson keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Johnson drags the fight down to the ground.
Sanchez is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
More hug and hope from Sanchez.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Phillip Johnson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Johnson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Johnson keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Sanchez's head.
Johnson stops Sanchez from standing up.

Sanchez pushes a forearm under Johnson's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Johnson is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:37 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Scot Sanchez!
