The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Maniek scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Maniek wants to stand but Acosta has his arm trapped.
Acosta wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Acosta wants to control but Maniek postures up.

Maniek looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Acosta trying to remain calm as Maniek controls from the top position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Let's hope that Maniek has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Acosta is trying to control Maniek's posture but Maniek avoids it.

Acosta tries to buck Maniek off but Maniek is having none of it.
Maniek cracks Acosta with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Maniek in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Acosta is looking for a sweep.
Maniek slows the pace down.
Acosta tries to bench press Maniek off him but Maniek keeps the position.

Maniek looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Acosta is avoiding damage well.
Acosta manages to work his way to half guard, despite Maniek's best efforts.
Acosta is concentrating on defense, preventing Maniek from advancing position.

Maniek is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Acosta is just riding it out for now. Maniek eventually gives up the hold.
Maniek seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Acosta tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Maniek has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

Acosta tries to lock up and control but Maniek gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Acosta is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

A big strike lands for Maniek! That's really hurt Acosta and he's turned his back - Maniek keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Maniek jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
