PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Michael Alexander (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bestia Lada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alexander comes to the cage accompanied by Superheroes. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Michael Alexander!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Bestia Lada!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Sandra Marshall and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lada tries to keep at a distance but Alexander has taken the fight into the clinch.
Lada drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Alexander looking for a takedown.
Lada manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lada breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Alexander lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Lada at a distance.

Alexander shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Lada napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Lada wants to control but Alexander postures up.
Alexander knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lada on the ground.

Lada tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Alexander thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Lada's head.

Alexander throwing shots but Lada is blocking nicely.

Lada is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Alexander pulls his head out easily.
Alexander is trying to control the action in half guard but Lada is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Lada is looking to control Alexander's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Lada avoid being mounted?

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Lada shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Alexander sprawls well. Alexander wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Lada gets slowly back to his feet.
Alexander has a takedown stuffed.
Alexander tries to clinch up but Lada circles away and keeps his distance.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
A slapping leg kick lands for Lada.
Alexander circles away from the clinch attempt.
Alexander fails to land with a series of punches.
Lada is looking for the big counter here.
Lada shoots in and drives through. Alexander sprawls well.
Michael Alexander has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bestia Lada.

Alexander throws a low kick but Lada moves out of range easily.

Alexander closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Lada to the mat! Lada manages to get full guard.
Alexander not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Lada is trying to keep Alexander in close.
Alexander is working Lada over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Lada misses with a body shot

and Alexander counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Lada!
Lada manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Lada tries to kick Alexander off but Alexander keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Alexander is thwarting Lada's attempts to control the position.

Alexander is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Alexander pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Lada is keeping the position for now.
Alexander throwing strikes but missing.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Alexander postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Lada is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Alexander, into his guard.

Lada wanted to stand there but Alexander had control of the position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Lada wants to control from the top but Alexander keeps moving.
Lada sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Alexander's guard.
Lada is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Alexander!
Lada manages to capitalize on a mistake by Alexander to take his back!

Lada is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Alexander is defending well though. Lada let's go of the attempt for now.
Lada keeps control of the position as Alexander tries to break free.
Alexander just trying to survive but Lada is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Michael Alexander overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Alexander rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

A close second round but Bestia Lada will probably get the nod - 10:9.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Bestia Lada seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Alexander throws a shot from downtown. Lada moves away and avoids it.

Lada closes the distance and clinches.
Alexander stalling against the cage.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Lada tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Alexander smiles and moves away.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Lada!
Alexander is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Lada can do to turn this around?

Alexander has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Lada clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Alexander is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Lada knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Lada for a finish.
Alexander gets his hands free as Lada looks to control.

Alexander has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Will Alexander go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

Lada is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Alexander is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Lada defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Lada wants to stand but Alexander has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Lada is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
