The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dextros shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Calderon napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Calderon could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Calderon is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Dextros's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Dextros shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Calderon manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Dextros's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Let's hope that Dextros has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Dextros shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Calderon is trying to defend but Dextros finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Dextros takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Dextros cracks Calderon with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
