Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Valdez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Miles Cox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Daniel Valdez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Miles Cox!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Stewart Dunkirk and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cox moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Valdez closes this distance looking for a takedown but Cox circles away.
Cox throws a lazy right hand but Valdez sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Cox misses with a series of wild punches.
Valdez tries to counter with a takedown but Cox is quick to defend against it.
A head kick misses from Cox.
Valdez showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Cox.
Valdez ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Horrible takedown attempt by Valdez or perhaps it was just good defense by Cox, which made it look bad.
Cox dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Valdez. That did some damage!
Valdez seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Cox lands with a kick to the temple. Valdez shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Cox stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Cox wants it to stay on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Daniel Valdez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cox scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cox lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Valdez fails to land the takedown.
Valdez dives in for a single leg takedown but Cox sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the ropes.

Valdez fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Cox sprawls well initially but Valdez persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Valdez stops Cox from getting back to his feet.
Valdez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cox keeps working.
Cox pushes Valdez off looking to stand but Valdez dives back in and keeps control.
Valdez wants to free his trapped foot but Cox is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Cox is trying to get back to full guard.
Valdez prevents Cox from standing back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Cox misses with a wild combination.
Cox waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Valdez.
Valdez appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Cox lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Cox moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Valdez takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Valdez closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Cox did well to prevent Valdez getting side control.
Cox tries to kick Valdez off but Valdez keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Valdez moves nicely into side control.
Valdez has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Cox!

Cox is trying to escape the mount.
Valdez controlling his opponent.
Cox tries to reverse the position but Valdez maintains control.
Valdez can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Cox is looking to escape.
Cox tries to hold on but Valdez pushes him away.
Valdez wants to take Cox's back here but Cox is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Cox slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Cox gets full guard.
Valdez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Cox pulls Valdez in close to prevent any damage.
Valdez prevents Cox from getting back to his feet.

Valdez drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Valdez jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Cox is looking to stand up but Valdez isn't so interested in that idea.
Valdez controlling from the top position.
Valdez trying to control the position from guard on top but Cox is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Miles Cox dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Cox swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Cox throws a lazy head kick

and Valdez counters with a nice double leg into side control. Cox won't be happy with that.
Cox prevents Valdez from improving position.
Valdez advances to mount.
Daniel Valdez overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Cox is squirming around, avoiding Valdez's attempts to control the action.
Valdez forces the positional change into back control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cox is trying to get back to his feet but Valdez has full control of the position and if anything, Cox has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Cox turns into Valdez and is now in his guard.

Cox controls from within his opponent's guard.
Cox wants to control from the top but Valdez keeps moving.
Cox trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Cox content to stall in guard here.
Cox must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Valdez keeping moving, preventing Cox from controlling successfully.
Valdez wants to sweep but no luck.

Cox is posturing up here but Valdez has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Cox tries to roll out but it's too tight and Cox has to tap! Slick submission there by Valdez!
