The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McPharson misses with a head kick.
Gomez uses good head movement to avoid the hook from McPharson.

McPharson leaves Gomez with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

McPharson's coach down at The Hut - $50 was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on McPharson's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Gomez got a little sloppy there for a moment and McPharson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gomez has managed to get both his arms back between McPharson's legs - danger averted.

That was a close round but I would say that Juan Gomez will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

A determined Nucky McPharson didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
