Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Phillip Hancock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jordy Hernandez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hernandez is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Cruise (Remix). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Phillip Hancock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jordy Hernandez!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Taro Takaoka and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hancock avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Hancock closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hancock lands in his opponent's guard.
Hernandez is pulling down on Hancock's head to control his posture.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Hancock manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Hernandez on his heels. He'll look to pass Hernandez's guard now, I'm sure.

Hernandez is working an open guard so Hancock takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Hernandez feints and as Hancock raises his hands in defense, Hernandez changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hernandez drops back looking for a leg! Hancock is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Hancock manages to kick Hernandez off! Hernandez jumps back into Hancock's guard.

Hancock is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Hernandez is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hancock is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hancock has escaped and now he's on top!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

That was a close round but I would say that Phillip Hancock will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Hancock shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Hernandez is trying to defend but Hancock finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Hancock is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Hernandez has managed to free his arm - good work.

Hernandez makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Hernandez.

Hancock drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Hernandez manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hancock has Hernandez in his guard.

Hancock can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hernandez controls the pace.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Phillip Hancock overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Hancock doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Hancock could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Hancock controls Hernandez momentarily but Hernandez frees himself.

Hernandez wants to stand but Hancock has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Hernandez is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Hernandez throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hancock was covering up waiting for the punch and Hernandez finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Jordy Hernandez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Hancock knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hernandez on the ground.

Hernandez is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

In his post fight interview, Jordy Hernandez started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
