Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gerard Woodward (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jace Malnon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 2, fighting out of St Petersburg, Gerard Woodward!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jace Malnon!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Viktor Lagutenko and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Malnon shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Woodward manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Woodward is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Malnon is aware though and is defending well.
Woodward pulls Malnon in to control the position.
Malnon tries to stand but Woodward is controlling from the bottom.

Woodward might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Malnon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Woodward swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Malnon wants to stand but Woodward has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Woodward shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Malnon but Malnon pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Woodward gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Malnon has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Woodward is working away from the top position though.
Malnon might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Woodward haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Woodward connects with a nice short shot to Malnon's temple.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Woodward throws an elbow that misses. Malnon uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Woodward's guard. Nice move by Malnon!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Malnon drops back, looking for a kneebar! Woodward looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Woodward looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Woodward!

Woodward has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Malnon can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Malnon would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

I would just about give that final round to Jace Malnon.
I think Malnon has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
