PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Miguel Grace (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Genesis Piper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Piper is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Ride Out-Kid Ink, Tyga. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Miguel Grace!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Genesis Piper!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Ren Mimura and Yasuomi Hirokawa.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grace shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Piper but Piper pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Grace looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Grace drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Piper thuds his right hand into Grace's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Piper ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Piper throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Grace stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Piper has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Piper thuds his right hand into Grace's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Piper swinging wildly here.
Grace swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Grace is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Piper.
Piper slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Piper throws a lazy right hand but Grace sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
A quick step to the side and Grace tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Piper uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Piper misses with a body shot.
Grace appears to be looking for a big counter.

Piper lands a big uppercut and Grace crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Grace looks OK. Piper waves Grace back to his feet!

Grace is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Piper connects with a stiff jab that staggers Grace - oh and he follows up with a huge uppercut that knocks him out cold! Man, that was brutal!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Genesis Piper!
In his post fight interview, Genesis Piper gave a big smile as he said 'Wooh thats 8 in a row for me now. Winning really feels good haha. Miguel is the best opponent ive faced by far. He is a beast in the ground and I knew my stand up would be key to this fight. Props to him tho. Lets party tonight Tokyo!'.
