PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Schittd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tony King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Schittd's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, I'm a Passive Fist. King comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Saliva-Badass kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! The key to victory for Jack Schittd has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jack Schittd!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tony King!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Wesley Smith and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

King shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Schittd manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
King trying to control the position from guard on top but Schittd is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
King's corner is telling him to maintain position.
King trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Schittd tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Schittd keeping moving, preventing King from controlling successfully.
Schittd preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
King controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Schittd digs a good body shot into King's ribs.
King missing with a left hand there. Schittd was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

King gets a clinch.
Schittd tries a body shot but King blocks it.

That's one minute gone in the round.

King jumps guard and drags Schittd to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Schittd throwing strikes from guard but King blocks nicely.
King is trying to control the position but Schittd postures up.
Schittd wants to control from the top but King keeps moving.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Schittd accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
King manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Schittd manages to get himself to full guard.

Schittd tries to land a sweep but no joy.
King postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
We've been hearing good reports from Schittd's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Schittd keeping moving, preventing King from controlling successfully.
Schittd is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
King throws a big elbow that misses.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
King cracks the inside of Schittd's front leg.
Schittd just misses with a punch to the body.

King instigates a clinch.
Schittd can't find room to land a body shot as King controls the action.
King lands a left hand.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
King throws an elbow but it's blocked.
King takes a knee right on the jaw!
King throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Schittd throws an elbow but it misses.

King breaks from the clinch.
King's jab looks to have found its range, popping Schittd under the eye.
King loads up on a big right hand but Schittd slips the punch.
Tony King seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Schittd misses with a wild combination.
King lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Nice body punch from Schittd.
King works Schittd's body with a nice hook.
Schittd slips a straight right by King.
An attempted straight right counter from Schittd misses the target.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

King gets the takedown into side control.
King misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Schittd tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but King wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Schittd manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
King keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Schittd is trying to control the action in half guard but King is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Schittd thows a huge punch but King dodges it nicely.
King avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Schittd.
King keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Schittd not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Schittd landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tony King dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Schittd tries to close the distance and clinch but King swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
King lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
King scores with a jab to the head.
King shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Schittd pinned against the cage. Schittd gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

King clinches up with Schittd and pushes him back against the cage.
Schittd jumps guard but King stands there with Schittd around his waist. Schittd gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Schittd tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Schittd creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
King wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
King misses with a hook from the clinch.
Schittd makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
King has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
King tries to work over Schittd's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

King breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Schittd displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as King throws out the jab.
Some wild striking there from Schittd.
King unleashes a big counter combination but Schittd bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Schittd misses with a series of wild punches.
King throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Schittd gets tackled into the cage by King. King maintains the clinch.
King lands a hook that snaps the head of Schittd backwards.
King has had enough of the clinch but Schittd keeps him there for the moment.
Schittd lands a hook to the side of the head.
King misses with a shot to the kidneys.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
A hook to the body from Schittd.

Schittd escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
King misses with a kick to the body.
King shoots in and drives through. Schittd sprawls well.
Schittd appears to be looking for a big counter.
Schittd thuds a left hand into King's body.
King is breathing heavily.
Schittd tries to close the distance and clinch but King swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Schittd ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Schittd feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends King sprawling to the canvas! King rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Schittd finish him?!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Schittd Throws a clean left jab. Schittd Twirls his body and connects with a Spinning Back Fist that connects flush with King's chin! King crumbles to the ground and Schittd follows up with some unanswered strikes. It's all over!! Nice standup skills displayed by Schittd!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:10 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Jack Schittd!
Jack Schittd decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
