PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Korey Cote (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Corey Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Anderson has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Korey Cote!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Corey Anderson!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Franklyn Lucas and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Anderson tries to bum rush Cote with a series of wild strikes but Cote uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Anderson looks winded!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Cote.
Anderson wants to clinch up but Cote keeps it at a distance.
Cote tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Anderson manages to circle out of the way.
Anderson misses with a takedown attempt - Cote sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Anderson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Cote pinned against the cage. Cote gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Corey Anderson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Anderson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Cote wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Anderson manages to pass to side control.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Cote changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Anderson tries to avoid it but Cote manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Anderson to the ground. Anderson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Anderson gets tackled into the cage by Cote. Cote maintains the clinch.
Cote tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Anderson just stands there and leans against the cage.
Anderson goes for a takedown in the clinch but Cote prevents it.
Cote can't get the takedown.

Cote has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Anderson is trying to keep an underhook but Cote manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Cote cracks Anderson with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cote, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
