The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith closes the distance looking to clinch
and Boykiy cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Smith looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Smith walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Boykiy looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Boykiy fails with an attempt to clinch.
Smith is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Smith shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Boykiy as he avoids it easily.

Boykiy wants to stand but Smith has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Smith has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Boykiy uses from the top position.

Boykiy postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Smith is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Boykiy, into his guard.

Smith gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Smith will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
