PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Piotr Rokicki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lars Paulsson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Rokicki might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Survivor - Eye of the Tiger. Paulsson has chosen Soldaat van Oranje Theme as his entrance music. The key to victory for Piotr Rokicki has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Piotr Rokicki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lars Paulsson!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rokicki chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Rokicki catches Paulsson with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Paulsson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Rokicki was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Rokicki lands with a shot to the body.
A telegraphed right hand from Rokicki misses the target.
Paulsson has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Paulsson tries to clinch there but Rokicki circles away.
Paulsson throws a hook to the side of Rokicki's head but Rokicki sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Paulsson throws a lazy uppercut
enabling Rokicki to counter with a crisp jab.
Paulsson shoots for a double leg takedown but Rokicki sprawls well. He's pushed Paulsson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Rokicki swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Paulsson throws a low kick but it's checked well by Rokicki.
Rokicki ducks under a wild hook from Paulsson.
Paulsson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rokicki pinned against the cage. Rokicki gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Paulsson closes the distance and clinches up with Rokicki, looking for a takedown. Paulsson pushes Rokicki against the cage but Rokicki circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
An attempted straight right counter from Rokicki misses the target.
Piotr Rokicki has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lars Paulsson.
Paulsson has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Rokicki.
Paulsson is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Rokicki connects with a leg kick. Paulsson looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

and Rokicki cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

and Rokicki counters with a nice uppercut.

Paulsson tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Rokicki lands a hook that snaps the head of Paulsson backwards.

Rokicki throws a punch but it's blocked by Paulsson.
Rokicki is leaning against Paulsson and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Paulsson avoids a wild elbow strike from Rokicki.
Rokicki lands a right hand.
Paulsson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Rokicki walks away with a smile on his face. Paulsson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Rokicki looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
A nice leg kick lands there from Rokicki.
Paulsson darts in looking for a takedown but Rokicki gets double underhooks and turns Paulsson into the cage.
Rokicki lands a jab.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Paulsson crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Rokicki - the referee stops the clock and Paulsson gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Rokicki. Paulsson manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Rokicki lands with a thumping leg kick.
Rokicki scores with a hook to the body. Paulsson takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Good leg kick by Rokicki there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Lars Paulsson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rokicki misses with a wild combination.
Paulsson throws a shot from downtown. Rokicki moves away and avoids it.
Paulsson takes one on the button.
A chopping leg kick lands by Rokicki.
Paulsson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Paulsson lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Rokicki has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Rokicki and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Paulsson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Rokicki throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Paulsson.
Rokicki throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Paulsson gets cracked there but stands up to it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Piotr Rokicki dominated that round.

Paulsson doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Rokicki bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Paulsson's head backwards.
Paulsson takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Rokicki's jab looks to have found its range, popping Paulsson under the eye.
Rokicki circles away from the clinch attempt.
It looked like Rokicki was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
A solid leg kick lands there for Rokicki.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rokicki defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Paulsson.
Donk. Rokicki catches Paulsson right on the button with a cross.


Paulsson is rocked!
Paulsson takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Paulsson is still on wobbly legs! Can Rokicki finish him?

Rokicki takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Rokicki went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Rokicki cracks Paulsson with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Rokicki has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Paulsson to stand back up!
Rokicki wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Rokicki leaves Paulsson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Piotr Rokicki has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lars Paulsson.
Rokicki uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Paulsson.
Paulsson seems to have recovered his senses.
Paulsson throws an off balance right hand
and Rokicki counters with a stiff right hand.
Rokicki smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Rokicki throws a monster overhand right that drops Paulsson! Rokicki follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Piotr Rokicki!
After winning the bout, Piotr Rokicki thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
