The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Heggs gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Maxwell.

We've been hearing good reports from Maxwell's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

and Heggs takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Heggs displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Maxwell throws out the jab.

Maxwell uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Heggs has time to react.

Heggs wants to get back to striking at distance but Maxwell won't allow it.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Heggs tries to stall but Maxwell uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Heggs pushes Maxwell back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Maxwell tries to work over Heggs's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Maxwell here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Heggs lands a nice uppercut.
Heggs creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Maxwell with a big uppercut! Maxwell tries to clinch up but Heggs pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Maxwell to the mat! Maxwell covers up and Heggs unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!

A relieved looking Luther Heggs thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
