The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lineker swats away the attempt to clinch by Bates.
Bates throws a leg kick
and Lineker counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Lineker fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Bates uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Lineker.
We've been told by Lineker's head coaches at Orion Fight Camp that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Bates fails with the takedown
and Lineker counters with a nice uppercut.
Bates misses with a leg kick
and Lineker cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Lineker scores with a jab to the body.
Lineker takes one on the button.

and Lineker counters with a stiff right hand.
Bates fails with the takedown

Bates takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Bates looks to land a combination but Lineker avoids it well.
Bates throws a left and a right that both miss
and Lineker counters with a straight right hand.
Bates throws a body punch but Lineker moves out of range.
Lineker swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Bates takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Bates avoids the body shot from Lineker.
John Lineker is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A bone on bone clash there as Lineker blocks the leg kick.
Bates wants to slow Lineker down by chopping away at his legs.
Bates fails with the takedown
and Lineker counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
John Lineker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Simon Bates.
Lineker looks to land a combination but Bates avoids it well.

letting Lineker counter with a right hand.

Lineker throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Bates stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bates looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Lineker is fending him off so far but Bates persists. Nope, Lineker circles away and we're back to standing.

Bates throws out a loose jab but Lineker uses good head movement to avoid it.
Lineker tests Bates's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Bates is rocked!
Simon Bates seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
It's a brutal combination of punches from Lineker! Bates is backing up but he can't get away as Lineker lands with one final shot to the jaw that drops Bates and ends the fight. Great knockout.
