Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Curt Champion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Valeriy Grushevky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Curt Champion!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Valeriy Grushevky!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Vladimir Khabensky and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Champion looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Grushevky's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Grushevky duly obliges.

Champion throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Grushevky tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Champion is in Grushevky's guard.
Grushevky is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Champion is controlling him.
Champion tries to free his leg and advance position but Grushevky is retaining full guard.
Champion pushing down on Grushevky's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Grushevky is looking to escape.
Champion thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
Champion looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Grushevky is trying to stand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Champion trying to mount his opponent but Grushevky defends it.
Grushevky is trying to stand.
Champion uses his free foot to push down on Grushevky's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Grushevky.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
You get the feeling that Grushevky really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Champion trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Grushevky wants to get back to his feet.
Champion thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Grushevky is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Champion looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Champion looking to finish with strikes here!
Champion won't let Grushevky get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Grushevky is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Champion throwing strikes here but Grushevky is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Grushevky squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Grushevky wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Champion.
Grushevky's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Champion trying to control but Grushevky is having none of it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Champion is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Grushevky is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Champion throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Champion misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Grushevky tries to buck Champion off but he can't manage it.

Champion is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Grushevky is surviving well by controlling Champion's body position as best he can.
Grushevky is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Champion is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Grushevky can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Grushevky tries to buck Champion off but he can't manage it.

Champion can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Grushevky is looking to escape.
Grushevky is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Champion has control of Grushevky's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Grushevky regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Grushevky is squirming around, avoiding Champion's attempts to control the action.
Grushevky's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Champion unloads with some shots from mount but Grushevky bucks and avoids them well.
You get the feeling that Grushevky really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Grushevky wants to get back to his feet.
Grushevky holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Champion tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Champion is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Grushevky has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Grushevky is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Champion throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Grushevky is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Grushevky scores with a jab to the body.
Grushevky fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Grushevky lands with an uppercut that bounces Champion off the cage and back into range.
Grushevky works over Champion's head and body with a nice combination.


It looks like Curt Champion has been cut.
Valeriy Grushevky is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Grushevky gets caught napping as Champion dives in and scores a takedown. Grushevky manages to retain guard.
Grushevky wants to get back to his feet but Champion is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Champion has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Grushevky utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Champion stops Grushevky from standing up.
Champion stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Grushevky swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Champion trying to control but Grushevky is working from the bottom.
Grushevky wants to get back to his feet but Champion is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Grushevky connects with a body shot.

Grushevky drops Champion with a right and a left! Grushevky comes rushing in but Champion regains his composure and manages to keep Grushevky in guard.


Champion is rocked!
Grushevky trying to control but Champion is working from the bottom.
Grushevky stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Champion swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Grushevky drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Grushevky jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Champion tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Champion keeping moving, preventing Grushevky from controlling successfully.
Curt Champion overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Grushevky is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Grushevky stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Champion walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
A big right followed by a crushing left from Grushevky knocks Champion out cold! Ouch - that one's going to be featured in highlight reels for years to come!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:21 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Valeriy Grushevky!
