PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brock Lesnar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tony Dean (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Brock Lesnar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Tony Dean!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Winston Alpacca and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dean dives in for a single leg takedown but Lesnar sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Dean misses with a takedown attempt - Lesnar sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Lesnar fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Dean sprawls well initially but Lesnar persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Dean tries to roll over but Lesnar keeps him under control.
Lesnar wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dean keeps working.
Dean is looking to improve his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dean is refusing to be controlled, as Lesnar sits in half guard.
Lesnar working the head and body with strikes.

Lesnar throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Dean moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Lesnar is looking to control Dean's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Lesnar avoid being mounted?

Lesnar has one foot on Dean's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Dean wants to clinch up but Lesnar keeps it at a distance.

Dean misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Lesnar.

Lesnar has hold of one of Dean's legs. Dean is fighting the takedown attempt but Lesnar gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Dean is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Lesnar is controlling him.

Dean isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Lesnar stacks Dean on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Lesnar!
Lesnar scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Dean to see if he's OK.
Dean wants to control but Lesnar postures up.
Dean sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Lesnar is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Lesnar tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Dean.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lesnar wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dean keeps working.
Lesnar not doing much here.
Lesnar trying to control the action but Dean is working from the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Lesnar is thwarting Dean's attempts to control the position.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Dean is defended easily by Lesnar.
Lesnar defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Dean.
Lesnar half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Lesnar blocks a head kick by Dean.
Dean shoots in for a double leg but Lesnar sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Lesnar swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Brock Lesnar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tony Dean.

Lesnar shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Dean's guard.
Dean is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Lesnar turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Lesnar manages to end up in side control.
Dean is looking to regain half guard here but Lesnar keeps moving and retains side control.
Lesnar trying to control the position but Dean is working away.
Dean manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Lesnar wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dean keeps working.
Lesnar is stalling here. Dean is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Lesnar seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Dean has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lesnar is looking for a sweep. Dean is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Lesnar trying to hold on to Dean's head to control him but Dean postures up.
Dean tries to stand but can't do so whilst Lesnar controls his leg.
Dean takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Lesnar is controlling Dean's trapped leg to prevent Dean from advancing to side control.
Dean is keen to just control but Lesnar is a slippery customer.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Lesnar tries to get to full guard but Dean has control of the leg.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Brock Lesnar is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Lesnar shoots in but no luck this time.
Dean tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Lesnar defends well and Dean ends up having to push Lesnar into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Lesnar shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Dean as he jumps to the side.

and Lesnar counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Dean is lucky that one didn't land flush.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dean fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Lesnar avoids it really well and circles away.

and Dean counters with a nice body shot.

Lesnar is looking to take a break and control but Dean is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Dean is trying to control Lesnar's posture but Lesnar avoids it.

Lesnar goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Dean has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Lesnar but great work by Dean.
The ground and pound from Dean seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

I would just about give that final round to Tony Dean.
Well Lesnar has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
