Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Akio Sakata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Turbo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dave Turbo is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from Turbo does no damage.
Sakata drops down looking for a counter takedown but Turbo sprawls and moves away.
Turbo stuffs the takedown.
Sakata keeps the fight on the outside.

Turbo manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Sakata on his heels. He'll look to pass Sakata's guard now, I'm sure.

Sakata is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Sakata has been working on his balance at Black Phoenix 9 elite coaches , so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Turbo.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Sakata enables Turbo to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Sakata manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Turbo is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Sakata!

Turbo throwing strikes here but Sakata is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sakata reaches up to try and control the position but Turbo seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Sakata rolls and tries to escape and now Turbo has his back!
You can see the frustration on Sakata's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Sakata will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Sakata drops back, looking for a kneebar! Turbo looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Turbo looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Turbo!

Turbo decides to stand back up. Turbo steps back and let's Sakata get back to his feet.

Turbo throws a strike aimed at the side of Sakata's head but Sakata avoids it well.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Sakata sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Sakata blocking the ground and pound attempt from Turbo.
Sakata moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Sakata lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Sakata postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Turbo is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Sakata, into his guard.

Turbo got a little sloppy there for a moment and Sakata has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Turbo has managed to get both his arms back between Sakata's legs - danger averted.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sakata working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Turbo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Turbo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Turbo accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Turbo drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Turbo jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Sakata keeping moving, preventing Turbo from controlling successfully.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Turbo might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Sakata haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Turbo throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Sakata was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Turbo is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Turbo has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
