PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Coy Parsons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mateo Collins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Collins's choice of entrance music: Linkin Park-Line in the Sand. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Coy Parsons!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mateo Collins!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Joseph Jones and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Collins misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Parsons is looking to counter the offense by Collins and move into the clinch.
Collins throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Parsons's waist but Parsons gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Collins off to one side.
Collins tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Parsons defends well and Collins ends up having to push Parsons into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Collins fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
It looked like Parsons was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Coy Parsons has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mateo Collins.
Collins tries to bum rush Parsons with a series of wild strikes but Parsons uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Collins tried to score with a low kick but Parsons checks it.
Parsons is looking to counter the offense by Collins and move into the clinch.
Parsons avoids a punch combination nicely.
Mateo Collins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Collins decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Parsons is looking to improve his position.
Collins drops an elbow to the side of Parsons's head.

Collins throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Parsons tries to roll over but Collins keeps him under control.

Parsons is looking to control Collins's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Parsons avoid being mounted?

Parsons moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Parsons is trying to keep Collins in close.
Parsons knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Collins on the ground.
Parsons utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Collins with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Parsons pulls Collins in close to his closed guard and prevents Collins from doing any damage or advancing position.
Collins throws a big right hand that misses.
Collins trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Collins missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

and Parsons counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Parsons is looking to control Collins's arms but Collins gets an underhook and turns him. Now Parsons has his back to the cage.
Collins lands a hook that snaps the head of Parsons backwards.

Collins's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Collins misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Parsons moves into the clinch.
Collins can't break the clinch.
Parsons jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Collins walks away with a smile on his face. Parsons gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Collins manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Parsons on his heels. He'll look to pass Parsons's guard now, I'm sure.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Collins shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Parsons is trying to defend but Collins finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Parsons has hold of Collins's hands but Collins slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Parsons wants to improve his position but Collins is controlling well.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mateo Collins dominated that round.
That's time! Parsons's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Collins has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Collins keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Collins looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Parsons is defending well. Collins quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Parsons has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Collins celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Mateo Collins!
