Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Angelo Giles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Manny Ortega (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Manny Ortega has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Angelo Giles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Manny Ortega!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Wagner Zegers and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Giles tries to clinch up.
Giles avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Ortega darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Giles moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Giles has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Giles is trying to keep Ortega in close.

Ortega wants to pass the guard but Giles is keeping the position.
Giles is trying to control the position but Ortega postures up.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Ortega slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Giles really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Ortega thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Giles is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Giles prevents Ortega from moving into mount.
Check out the look on Ortega's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Ortega tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Ortega remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Giles gets back to half guard.
Giles wants to control but Ortega is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Giles tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Ortega manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Giles moves in looking to clinch but Ortega pushes him off.

Ortega closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Giles's guard.
Giles will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Giles is striking but Ortega is not phased and passes to half guard.
Giles is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Well, if Ortega is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Ortega connects with a nice short shot to Giles's temple.
Giles is positioning himself well to prevent Ortega advancing to mount.
Still in half guard, Ortega seems content to control.
Ortega thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Giles's head.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Ortega is trying to work for a kimura but Giles is defending well.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Ortega seems to be looking for submissions.

Ortega takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Giles has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ortega is working away from the top position though.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Angelo Giles is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Ortega throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Giles was covering up waiting for the punch and Ortega finishes the takedown easily into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Ortega cracks Giles with a big right hand but Giles just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Manny Ortega comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ortega has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
