Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Maurice Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yahweh Falwell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Falwell has chosen Don't Stop Believing as his entrance music. Maurice Smith has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Maurice Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 43 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Yahweh Falwell!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Falwell to the mat! Falwell manages to get full guard.
Falwell looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Smith throws a big right hand that misses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Smith drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Smith jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Smith pushes down on Falwell's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Smith is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Falwell is staying active underneath Smith, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smith not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Falwell is not content to let Smith control the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Smith lands strikes from half guard.
Falwell is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Smith scores with a couple of nice shots.
Falwell keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Smith thows a huge punch but Falwell dodges it nicely.
Falwell really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Smith is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Falwell doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Smith.

Smith looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Smith throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Smith thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Smith not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Smith is nestled in close to Falwell, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Smith seems to be looking for submissions.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Smith working Falwell over with strikes.

Smith is trying to work for a kimura but Falwell is defending well.
Smith slips a nice elbow through Falwell's hands, connecting with Falwell's forehead.


Falwell is rocked!
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Smith connects with a nice short shot to Falwell's temple.
Falwell is still in real trouble! Can Smith finish him?
Smith lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Falwell quite badly. Falwell pulls Smith in close trying to recover. Smith postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Falwell on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Falwell doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Maurice Smith!
Maurice Smith really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Brazil War House (Laundry 90%) logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
The defeated Yahweh Falwell had this to say: 'Hasa diga eebowai. I guess I didn't pray hard enough, or maybe prayed too much. I bet if I rolled more instead of praying, I might have learned to defend submissions. I guess it's God's will. But to quote George Carlin: "If it's God's will and he's going to do what he wants to anyway, why'.
