PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Barry Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Waranhk Nsembo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Barry Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Waranhk Nsembo!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, James Atkins and Donald Grub.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nsembo cracks the inside of Smith's front leg.
Smith changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Nsembo tries to avoid it but Smith manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Nsembo to the ground. Nsembo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Nsembo shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Smith's guard.

Nsembo wanted to stand there but Smith had control of the position.
Nsembo pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Smith is keeping the position for now.

Smith is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Smith had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Nsembo is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Smith Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Nsembo's back instead.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Nsembo is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Smith gets his way!
Nsembo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Smith will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
I really don't envy Nsembo right now.

Smith has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Nsembo! Can he survive? No! He's out! Smith gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
