Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kelly Heath (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bobby Sanders (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kelly Heath!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bobby Sanders!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Russell Pearce and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Heath rushes Sanders and presses him up against the cage.
Sanders is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Heath pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Heath has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Sanders tries to pull guard but Heath holds him up against the cage and eventually Sanders drops back down to his feet.
Heath tries to break free but Sanders pushes him back against the cage.
Sanders tries to score a body lock takedown but Heath shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Kelly Heath has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bobby Sanders.
Heath wants to break free but Sanders has control.
Heath is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Sanders gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Heath tries to kick Sanders off but Sanders keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Sanders wants to take a breather but Heath is having none of it.
Heath trying to hold on to Sanders's head to control him but Sanders postures up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Sanders misses with a takedown attempt - Heath sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Sanders just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromHeath.
Heath tries to clinch but Sanders moves out of range.

Sanders decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Heath is trying to get back to full guard.
Heath has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Sanders is working away from the top position though.

Sanders is taking a breather. Heath says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Sanders is looking to pass Heath's guard but actually Heath recovers to full guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Sanders controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Heath tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sanders swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Sanders shoots for a double leg takedown but Heath sprawls well. He's pushed Sanders's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Sanders misses with a straight left.
Sanders fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Sanders swings widly with a right hand
and Sanders takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Sanders swats away the attempt to clinch by Heath.
Sanders swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Heath instigates a clinch.
Sanders is pressed up against the cage. Heath has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Sanders down to the mat. Sanders avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Sanders fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Heath to the ground. Sanders is now in Heath's guard.

Sanders drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Heath dives on top into guard.


Sanders is looking for a triangle here but Heath uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bobby Sanders has got the better of the ground game so far.

Heath working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sanders trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
BOOM! Heath connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Heath goes for an armbar but Sanders turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Sanders.

Sanders wants to control from the top but Heath keeps moving.
Heath tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Sanders must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Sanders looking to sit in guard and control but Heath gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Sanders is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Sanders is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Heath defends well.
Sanders thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Heath throws a big right hand that misses.
Sanders wants to sweep here but Heath controlling him for the moment.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Sanders shoots in looking for a takedown but Heath manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Sanders's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Heath stuffs the takedown.
Heath throws a big counter combination but Sanders scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Sanders is breathing heavily.
Sanders wants to clinch but Heath slips to the side
and Heath counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Sanders avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Sanders gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Heath counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Kelly Heath has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bobby Sanders.
Heath tries to close the distance and clinch but Sanders swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Heath wants to clinch up but Sanders keeps it at a distance.
Bobby Sanders seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

As Sanders backs away, Heath returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.

Heath unloads a knee to the mid-section. Sanders lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Heath stands up over Sanders, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Sanders looking to hit a scissor sweep but Heath is one step ahead there.

Heath chips away with some ground and pound.
Heath lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Heath is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Sanders avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Heath has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Well Heath has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
