The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Idol closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Macmany did well to prevent Idol getting side control.
Idol is looking to advance position but Macmany won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Macmany is refusing to be controlled, as Idol sits in half guard.
Macmany is trying to maintain the position but Idol is very close to passing his half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Idol is working for a submission of some sort.

Idol is looking for a kimura but Macmany is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Idol to get the leverage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Idol has gone for a leg lock! Macmany slips out almost immediately though and dives into Idol's guard.

Idol had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Macmany defends it easily.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Macmany accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Macmany connects with a nice short shot to Idol's temple.
