PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between James Simeon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kaspar Hauser (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James Simeon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kaspar Hauser!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Darius Henderson and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simeon throws a lazy head kick

and Hauser counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Hauser throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Hauser content to stall in guard here.
Hauser stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Simeon swivels though and keeps the full guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Simeon is looking to stand up but Hauser isn't so interested in that idea.

Hauser drops back looking for a leg! Simeon is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Simeon manages to kick Hauser off! Hauser jumps back into Simeon's guard.

Hauser is looking to work some ground and pound but Simeon has wrist control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hauser's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Simeon controls Hauser momentarily but Hauser frees himself.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Nice takedown defense from Simeon. No joy for Hauser on that attempt.
Simeon looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Simeon fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Hauser feints the counter takedown.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Simeon looks to clinch

and Hauser counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Hauser lands a couple of elbows.
Hauser wants to control from the top but Simeon keeps moving.
Simeon working a defensive guard but Hauser manages to pass into side control anyway.

Hauser tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hauser has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Hauser working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Simeon dodges the ground and pound from Hauser.

Hauser swings around for an armbar but Simeon sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Hauser's guard.
Hauser is trying to keep Simeon in close.

Simeon has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Simeon stays in close to Hauser's body and controls the position.
Hauser keeping full guard, as Simeon tries to pass.
Hauser is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hauser is looking to advance position but Simeon won't allow it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kaspar Hauser dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Simeon throws a head kick that misses

and Hauser counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Simeon!
Hauser has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Simeon!
Simeon knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hauser on the ground.
Hauser fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Hauser tries to control but Simeon wriggling away.
Hauser lands a big elbow.
Hauser punishing his opponent with strikes.

Hauser goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Simeon is on top in guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Simeon pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hauser is keeping the position for now.

Hauser working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Simeon doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Simeon manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hauser bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Simeon's guard.

Simeon wants to sweep but no luck.

Hauser thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Hauser advances to half guard.
Hauser slips a nice elbow through Simeon's hands, connecting with Simeon's forehead.
Well, if Hauser is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Hauser passes to full mount!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hauser breaks from Simeon's wrist control and lands an elbow.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Hauser cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Hauser working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Hauser is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Simeon to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Simeon shrugs it off.
Simeon wants to control but Hauser is having none of it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Hauser is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Simeon is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Simeon flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Hauser anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Simeon and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Hauser slips an arm under Simeon chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Hauser has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Hauser is squeezing on Simeon like an anaconda would it's prey. Simeon fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Kaspar Hauser!
