PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Alvin Loredo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Predator Burns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Burns has chosen How I Could Just Kill A Man - Cypress Hill as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Predator Burns was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 1, fighting out of New York, Alvin Loredo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Predator Burns!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burns tries to close the distance and clinch up but Loredo swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Burns changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Loredo tries to avoid it but Burns manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Loredo to the ground. Loredo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Burns uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Loredo.
Burns tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Loredo scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Burns doesn't seem bothered though.
Loredo has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Loredo takes one to the side of the head.
Loredo connects with a looping right hand.
Loredo displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Loredo throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Burns.
Loredo lands with a right hand.
Burns avoids the body shot from Loredo.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Loredo misses with a hook. Burns ducked under it nicely.

Loredo throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Burns stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Burns has taken the fight to the clinch.
Loredo lands a left hand that snaps the head of Burns backwards.
Burns tries a body shot but Loredo blocks it.

Loredo breaks the clinch.
Burns blocks a jab.
A slow jab from Loredo misses its intended target.
Burns bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Loredo looks to score with a jab to the body but Burns is just out of range.
Nice sprawl there from Loredo as Burns shoots in.

Burns scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Burns works his way into side control.
Burns working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

Burns tries to move into full mount but can't pass Loredo's legs.
Burns wants to lay and pray for a moment but Loredo keeps working.

Burns wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Loredo, who protects the arm well.
Burns tries to advance to mount but Loredo denies him.
Burns fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Burns trying to control the action but Loredo is working from the bottom.
Loredo avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Burns.

Loredo is looking for a sweep.

Burns goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Loredo rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Burns's guard! Nice work there by Loredo!
Burns has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Loredo trying to stand up but can't free himself from Burns's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Loredo avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Loredo got a little sloppy there for a moment and Burns has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Loredo has managed to get both his arms back between Burns's legs - danger averted.
Loredo is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Burns escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Loredo gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Loredo avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Burns working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Loredo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Loredo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Burns is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Loredo is aware though and is defending well.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Loredo throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Burns takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Loredo throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Burns.
Burns steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Loredo.
Burns is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Loredo scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Loredo misses with an attempted mid kick.
Burns misses with a body shot.
Loredo wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Burns tries to close the distance and clinch up but Loredo swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Burns moves away from the strike by Loredo.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Loredo lands a slapping body shot.
Loredo waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Burns.
Loredo keeps the fight on the outside.
Loredo is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Burns can do to turn this around?

and Burns decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Loredo's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Burns chips away with some ground and pound.
Burns advances position into side control!
Burns tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Loredo tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Burns wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Burns wants to lay and pray for a moment but Loredo keeps working.
Burns working the body and head with strikes.

Burns working the ground and pound.
Burns works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Loredo is trying to control Burns's posture but Burns avoids it.
Loredo is not content to let Burns control the position.
Loredo struggling a bit here.
Burns lands a nice forearm strike.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Burns misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Loredo is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Burns has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Burns is looking to take a break and control but Loredo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Burns sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Loredo is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Loredo is looking to regain half guard here but Burns keeps moving and retains side control.
Loredo prevents Burns from moving into mount.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Loredo is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Burns tries to move to full mount but Loredo actually manages to regain half guard.
Burns is nestled in close to Loredo, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Loredo is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Burns missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Burns not landing any meaningful shots this time.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Burns trying to control from half guard but Loredo is working away.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Burns ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Burns moves out of range as Loredo strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Predator Burns will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Loredo's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


The fighters circling - Burns throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Loredo misses with a two punch combination.
Loredo throws a right and a left that both miss.
Burns dips to his left and cracks Loredo with an uppercut!
Burns slips under a jab.

Burns takes the fight into the clinch.

Burns gets control of Loredo's arms and successfully pulls guard. Burns will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Loredo is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Burns has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Loredo is looking to defend but Burns has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Loredo! Burns pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Loredo taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:50 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Predator Burns!
Post fight, an emotional Predator Burns said 'Thanks guys, I have worked hard and the Burns team got me back on track. I regret not starting my career with Bradley Burns and my family but now I'm home.'.
