Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lucas Podolski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Zachary Abrams!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Radbod Blank and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Abrams gets a clinch.
Podolski is working for takedown but Abrams is calmly controlling the position for now.
Podolski wants a takedown.

Abrams's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Abrams keeps the fight on the outside.
Podolski tries to clinch there but Abrams circles away.
Abrams steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Podolski.

Abrams darts in and clinches Podolski up against the cage.
Abrams prevents Podolski from breaking the clinch.
Podolski has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Abrams avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Podolski tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Abrams breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Abrams bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Podolski's head backwards.

Abrams's jab looks to have found its range, popping Podolski under the eye.
Abrams closes the distance and clinches up with Podolski, looking for a takedown. Abrams pushes Podolski against the cage but Podolski circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Abrams obliges.
Abrams gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Podolski.
Podolski is trying to break the clinch but Abrams has him pressed against the cage.

Abrams escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Abrams checks the leg kick nicely there.

Abrams digs a right hand underneath Podolski's ribcage. Podolski let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Podolski wants to break the clinch but can't.
A frustrated look appears on Podolski's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Abrams lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

Abrams works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Abrams trying to control the position from guard on top but Podolski is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Abrams seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Abrams wants to lay and pray for a moment but Podolski keeps working.
Podolski is trying to control Abrams's posture but Abrams avoids it.
Podolski is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Podolski trying to control but Abrams flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!

Abrams's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

and Abrams holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Podolski tries to clinch but Abrams is having none of it.

Abrams has managed to clinch.

Abrams is trying to trip Podolski. He has hold of a leg but Podolski is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Abrams persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Podolski wants to get back to his feet but Abrams is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Abrams throws a strike but Podolski rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Abrams working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Podolski doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Podolski manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Abrams is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Horrible takedown attempt by Podolski or perhaps it was just good defense by Abrams, which made it look bad.
Abrams swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.

Abrams closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Podolski's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Podolski pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Abrams is keeping the position for now.
Podolski postures up in Abrams's guard and throws a big left but Abrams blocks it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Abrams wants to improve his position but instead Podolski has moved into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Abrams lands with a thumping leg kick.
Podolski throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Podolski throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Abrams was covering up waiting for the punch and Podolski finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Abrams wants to hit a switch here but Podolski passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Abrams there!
Abrams wants to hold on but Podolski pushes him away.

and Abrams counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Podolski looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Abrams is fending him off so far but Podolski persists. Nope, Abrams circles away and we're back to standing.
Abrams appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.

Abrams gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Abrams is leaning against Podolski and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Podolski tries to pull guard but Abrams won't allow it.
Abrams manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Abrams appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Podolski shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Abrams as he avoids it easily.
Abrams is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
A chopping leg kick lands by Abrams.
Abrams fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Podolski lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Abrams circles away quickly and effectively.
Good leg kick by Abrams there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Abrams has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Podolski tries to score a power double leg takedown but Abrams sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Podolski somewhat.
Lucas Podolski is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Zachary Abrams comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Abrams has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
