Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Russell Pearce and Anthony Taglia.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maier fails with a takedown attempt.
Sharpe changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Sharpe could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Sharpe tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Maier was well out of range. Poor timing from Sharpe.
Maier throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Sharpe was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Maier takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Sharpe tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Maier avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Maier moves into range and clinches up with Sharpe.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The referee calls for Maier to work.

Maier pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Sharpe tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Maier paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Maier closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Maier is pressed up against the cage. Sharpe has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Maier down to the mat. Maier avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Maier feints and as Sharpe raises his hands in defense, Maier changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Maier advances position into side control!

Maier decides to stand up, so the ref orders Sharpe to his feet.
Maier defending well as Sharpe loads up on a big left hand.

Maier changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Sharpe looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Maier working away.
Maier controls the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sharpe wants to control but Maier postures up.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Sharpe is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Sharpe is trying to control Maier's posture but Maier avoids it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Maier gets to mount! Sharpe was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sharpe is just holding on here. Maier manages to take his back.
Maier controls the action.
Sharpe knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Maier on the ground.

Maier is working the ground and pound. Can Sharpe escape?
Sharpe is covering up but some of the strikes from Maier are getting through and doing damage.

Maier has his arm under Sharpe's chin here. Game over son! Maier squeezes tightly and Sharpe is forced to tap out!
