Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Carl Sheppards!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, George North!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Illya Tyunina and Dmitry Maklakov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A nice leg kick lands there from North.
We've been hearing reports that Sheppards has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
North keeps the fight on the outside.
North with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Sheppards tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but North paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Sheppards backing away here, and North unleashes a leg kick that just misses.
Sheppards lands the left hand.

Ouch! a nice leg kick from North, right into the meat.
Sheppards throws a series of punches but North moves out of range.

As Sheppards backs off North throws a huge counter combo but Sheppards manages to avoid it all.

and North counters with a nice body kick.
Sheppards blocks a head kick by North.
Sheppards half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

and North counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Sheppards chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before North can pounce on him.
Sheppards connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Sheppards fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. North looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Sheppards dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Sheppards walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

North lands a front kick.
Sheppards is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Sheppards misses with an uppercut. North saw that one coming.
North is looking for the big counter here.
North uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Sheppards.
A little jabbing left from North on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
George North is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Sheppards ducks down and throws a hook to the body but North moves away.

North displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Sheppards throws out the jab.
North lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
North feints and then cracks Sheppards's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Sheppards down.

Sheppards shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. North defends it nicely.
Sheppards rushes North and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch.
North pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Sheppards misses the jab.
North moves forwards but Sheppards connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Carl Sheppards seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A big left from Sheppards misses.
Nice straight punches there by Sheppards. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Sheppards.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but George North will probably get the nod.

George North seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Sheppards lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Sheppards cracks North on the jaw with a powerful right hand and North falls backwards against the ropes. Sheppards follows up with more strikes that drop North to his knees. Sheppards keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save North! This one is all over!
