PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kasey Guerrero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mustafa Jababeka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Jababeka's choice of entrance music: Goyang Dumang. Kasey Guerrero has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mustafa Jababeka!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Chris Dean and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Jababeka stuffs the takedown attempt from Guerrero. Guerrero gets slowly back to his feet.

Jababeka tries to sprawl but Guerrero drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Guerrero is working for a kimura but Jababeka is defending it quite comfortably.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Guerrero wants to work for an arm triangle but Jababeka is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Guerrero in particular looking to stall.
Guerrero seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Guerrero is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jababeka is just riding it out for now. Guerrero eventually gives up the hold.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Guerrero takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Guerrero shoots in and drives through. Jababeka sprawls well.
Jababeka throws a big counter head kick but Guerrero avoids it with no problem.
Guerrero jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Despite the aggression on Jababeka's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Guerrero changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jababeka tries to avoid it but Guerrero manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jababeka to the ground. Jababeka escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Guerrero shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jababeka pinned against the cage. Jababeka gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Jababeka unleashes a big counter combination but Guerrero bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kasey Guerrero. That's going to take a lot out of him.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Jababeka is trying to break the clinch but Guerrero is controlling him.

Guerrero has Jababeka pressed against the cage, preventing Jababeka from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Guerrero tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Jababeka is looking to break free of the clinch but Guerrero has double underhooks.
Guerrero is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jababeka can do to turn this around?

Mustafa Jababeka showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
