PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Fritz Drake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Norbet Nowak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Fritz Drake has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Fritz Drake seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Drake goes for a double leg but Nowak avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Nowak continues to drive forward.

Drake shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Nowak's guard.
Drake is looking to work some ground and pound but Nowak has wrist control.
Drake won't allow Nowak to sweep him here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nowak is trying to control the position but Drake postures up.
Drake knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Nowak on the ground.

Nowak pulls Drake in close to his closed guard and prevents Drake from doing any damage or advancing position.

Nowak is trying to control the position but Drake postures up.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Drake is working Nowak over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Nowak doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Nowak working for submissions but it's allowed Drake to get to half guard.
Nowak makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Nowak.
Nowak tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Drake will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Drake loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Nowak scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Nowak wants to control but Drake is keeping him busy.

Drake is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Nowak is controlling him well.

Nowak is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Drake has escaped the position, nice work there.
Nowak remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Drake wants to control but Nowak postures up.
Drake is looking to regain half guard here but Nowak keeps moving and retains side control.
Drake tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Nowak is looking to work his way around to Drake's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.
