Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Arnavut Sevket (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charles Carey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Arnavut Sevket!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Charles Carey!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Reed Andrews and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carey avoids the body shot from Sevket.
Carey pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Sevket just misses with a punch to the body.
Carey throws a big counter head kick but Sevket avoids it with no problem.
Sevket scores with a jab to the body.
Sevket misses with a lunging right hand
and Carey counters with a leg kick.
Sevket swings for the body but Carey moves out of range.
Carey tries a quick counter leg kick but Sevket is wise to it.
Sevket throws a body punch but Carey moves out of range.
Carey will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Carey fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Sevket.
Sevket takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Carey dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Sevket. That did some damage!
Sevket just misses with a punch to the body.
Carey throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Sevket throws a jab when Carey was well out of range.
Sevket throws a jab but it's blocked by Carey.
We've been hearing reports that Sevket has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

and Carey counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Carey tries a head kick but it misses.
Arnavut Sevket seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Carey lands a front kick.

and Carey counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.


It looks like Arnavut Sevket has been cut.

Sevket was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Sevket fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Carey swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Carey looks to land a body kick but Sevket moved away.
Sevket is looking to wear down Carey with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Carey is looking to slow Sevket down with leg kicks.
Carey will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Carey fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Sevket checks it well.

and Carey counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Carey takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Sevket on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Carey finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Sevket ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Carey moves away.
Carey appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.

Sevket closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Sevket seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Carey can do anything to dispel that myth.

Carey really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sevket. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Carey has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Sevket is working away from the top position though.

Sevket is fighting to break Carey's control of his arms but Carey is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sevket postures up in Carey's guard and throws a big left but Carey blocks it.
Sevket loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Carey told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Sevket fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Carey sprawls well initially but Sevket persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Carey has hold of Sevket's hands but Sevket slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Carey wants to get back to his feet.
Sevket lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sevket slips a nice elbow through Carey's hands, connecting with Carey's forehead.
Carey is looking to control Sevket's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Carey avoid being mounted?

It looks like Charles Carey has been cut.
Sevket is nestled in close to Carey, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Sevket is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Carey can do to turn this around?

Sevket tries to score with some ground and pound. Carey controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Sevket misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

That has opened up Charles Carey's cut even more.
Carey manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Carey is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Arnavut Sevket overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Sevket drops back, looking for a kneebar! Carey looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Carey looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Carey!

Sevket is letting Carey control him for a moment.
Sevket can't do much from the bottom here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sevket is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.

Carey decides to stand up, so the ref orders Sevket to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Sevket tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Carey swivels and escapes.
Sevket shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Carey as he jumps to the side.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Carey has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Sevket is working away from the top position though.

Charles Carey's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Charles Carey's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Arnavut Sevket!

In his post fight interview, Arnavut Sevket started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
