The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gatmaitan lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Brooks backwards.
Brooks has Gatmaitan pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Gatmaitan manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Brooks escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Brooks takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Brooks closes the distance and clinches up with Gatmaitan, looking for a takedown. Brooks pushes Gatmaitan against the cage but Gatmaitan circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Jose Gatmaitan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Brooks fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

As Gatmaitan backs off Brooks throws a huge counter combo but Gatmaitan manages to avoid it all.
Both fighters circle each other, looking for something big. Gatmaitan moves in and throws an overhand right. That hurt Brooks! Gatmaitan continues to tee off on Brooks, landing with a left and a right! Gatmaitan connects with a right hand that leaves Brooks sleeping against the cage! What a finish by Gatmaitan!
