PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ernesto Suarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chubbs Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chubbs Peterson told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ernesto Suarez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Chubbs Peterson!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Edson Gomes and Mauricio Rocha.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peterson tries to bum rush Suarez with a series of wild strikes but Suarez uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Suarez shoots in for a double leg but Peterson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Suarez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Peterson tries to avoid it but Suarez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Peterson to the ground. Peterson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Suarez drives through with a takedown into guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Peterson can do anything to dispel that myth.
Suarez stops Peterson from standing up.
Peterson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Suarez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Suarez drops back, looking for a kneebar! Peterson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Peterson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Peterson!

Peterson decides to stand back up. Peterson steps back and let's Suarez get back to his feet.
Suarez is breathing heavily.
Peterson throws a nice looking combination but Suarez bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Suarez misses with a takedown attempt - Peterson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ernesto Suarez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Peterson bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

It looks like Ernesto Suarez has been cut.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Peterson jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Suarez tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Peterson swivels and escapes.
Peterson changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Peterson cracks Suarez with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Suarez uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Peterson.
Suarez seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Peterson shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Suarez is backing up but Peterson catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Suarez covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Peterson Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!
