PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between William Dettman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jos Rodri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). William Dettman looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, William Dettman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jos Rodri!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Stewart Dunkirk and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodri shoots for a double leg takedown but Dettman sprawls well. He's pushed Rodri's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Rodri fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Dettman tried to counter with a leg kick but Rodri avoided it.
Rodri shoots in but Dettman avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Dettman seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
William Dettman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jos Rodri.

Rodri closes the distance and clinches up with Dettman, looking for a takedown. Rodri pushes Dettman against the cage but Dettman circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Rodri shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Dettman sprawls well. Dettman wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Rodri gets slowly back to his feet.

Horrible takedown attempt by Rodri or perhaps it was just good defense by Dettman, which made it look bad.

Rodri shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Dettman as he avoids it easily.

Dettman throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Rodri was covering up waiting for the punch and Dettman finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Dettman stands up and waves to Rodri to follow him.

Dettman shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Rodri is trying to defend but Dettman finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Rodri has his foot on Dettman's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Dettman works his way back into a safe position though.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Rodri manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

William Dettman showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Dettman has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
