PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nathaniel White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Maier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Nathaniel White!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Daniel Maier!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Johanna Lukiainen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
White takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Maier dives in and grabs White's left leg, looking for a takedown. White pushes down on Maier's head and hops out.
Maier fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
White is looking for a counter combo.

Maier drives through and clinches with White against the cage.
Maier can't get the takedown.
Nathaniel White has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daniel Maier.
The referee is keeping an eye on Maier - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

White pulls Maier into guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
White is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

White changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Maier tries to avoid it but White manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Maier to the ground. Maier escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

White gets control of Maier's arms and successfully pulls guard. White will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Maier throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

White gets tackled into the cage by Maier. Maier maintains the clinch.
White jumps guard but Maier stands there with White around his waist. White gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

A close second round but Daniel Maier will probably get the nod - 10:9.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Still in half guard, White seems content to control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

White shoots in for a takedown but Maier shows good takedown defense.

Maier has managed to clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Maier throws a punch but it's blocked by White.
White is trying to pull guard but Maier turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Daniel Maier.
I think Maier has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
