These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kamida throws the kick towards the body but Adama avoids it.
Kamida throws a head kick that misses.

Adama drives through and clinches with Kamida against the cage.
Adama misses with a hook to the ribs.
Adama stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Adama obliges.
Kamida tries to pull guard but Adama won't allow it.
Kamida jumps guard but Adama stands there with Kamida around his waist. Kamida gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Adama throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Kamida blocks it with crossed arms.

William Adama has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sousuke Kamida.

Adama lands a knee to the head.
Kamida tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Adama smiles and moves away.
Kamida has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Adama is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Adama is looking to stand up but Kamida won't let him.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Kamida misses with a takedown attempt - Adama sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Adama wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Kamida feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Adamas jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Kamida works Adama's body with a nice hook.
We've been told by Adama's head coaches at ~T~ Troid - Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Kamida looks to score with a jab to the body but Adama is just out of range.

Adama closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Kamida is looking to break free of the clinch but Adama has double underhooks.
Kamida jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Adama walks away with a smile on his face. Kamida gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
